Flip lid Vessels allow for the vessel to reveal an extended interior that can become the exterior.

The accumulation of practice focuses more on the process of making art, but still requires an end product.  As a ceramic artist, I love throwing on the wheel, but its what I do with the pots that takes me away from being just a potter. I accumulate my practice and form these larger ceramic sculptures. These pieces all show the combination of pottery to create a sculpture. 

The outcome of Throwing vs Throwing at gallery 215 in DeKalb. These pots were fired to cone 6 with no glaze to preserve the detail of the performance. 

As a Baseball pitcher for 17 years I have developed my skill through excessive repetition of body movement. As an artists I still accomplish the repetition of action but the physical body movement has been discarded.  Throwing vs Throwing allows me to manipulate by pitching. This addition of motion complements with the physical endurance I was lacking in the studio.

This interactive installation would start with just the bottom three lockers opened. The codes on the inside of the locker doors would have the code for the above locker. The participants will be able to unlock as many as they would like, reveling the process of the amount of pieces that preceded the finished product.  

Zoetrope is a collaboration show of 2D and 3D art to create the illusion of motion. Artists Jeremy J. Foy and Korkut Akacik design a 21st century Zoetrope in a performance and interactive pieces. 

The performance is a connection of media but also a connection of cultures. From Turkey to the United States Korkut and I interact with no voice. Showing that Art is a communication between itself and others. 

Jeremy focuses on the execution of practice. A term he has used in athletics, he is taking the mindset of athletic practice into his studio. 

Working on the wheel felt stationary to me. I know there was a lot of movement from the waist up but I missed the whole body experience. By distancing myself away from the wheel I have created a full body motion from throwing on the wheel to throwing at the wheel. 

Actions Speak:

Allowing the gallery’s atmosphere to change, Actions Speak brings an athletic motion into a usually static art atmosphere. Allowing a viewer to touch clay, and to be able to replicate an action a so dearly love. Action has an energy, a force and a voice. It brings strangers together to experience a moment, rather than just knowing someone is standing next to you looking at art. Joy, excitement, anger, aggression could start to emerge. Allowing a greeting that may have never been. Actions Speak allow the unconscious competition to emerge from within two strangers, two friends or a group of acquaintances. The action of throwing, creates art. It gives a voice to the clay, and when the piece is removed from the wall. Viewers and participants can view their accuracy, there energy and there time. The removal of the object changes the vocabulary from present to past, from throwing at to thrown at.
